Bring On Life — And Breakfast! A Powerful Taste Test from One of Our Own

You never know who’s standing next to you!

Well, recently I found myself at a football match and got chatting to the person beside me. As I shared all about Slimpod and our amazing podders, he lit up and told me he was the CEO of a company called BOL Foods.

Now I’ll admit,  I hadn’t heard of BOL before (my daughter was horrified when I told her that – she’s a real fan!). But as he explained their mission — real food, no nonsense, and making healthy choices easy — I instantly knew they were aligned with everything we stand for at Slimpod.

Even the name says it all: BOL stands for “Bring On Life.”

So I asked if I could get you lovely lot a cheeky discount. And of course, I had to have one of our very own podders test them out first.

You might know her from Move & Groove Mondays — here’s what Tamzin had to say…

Tamzin’s Takeover

I was lucky enough to be sent three shakes from BOL Foods recently, to try them out and let all you lovely podders know what I thought of them. I received three different flavours: blueberry, vanilla and chocolate.

I had a good hard look at the ingredients labels and was impressed that BOL Foods use only natural, whole food ingredients. Each shake contains at least 50% of the daily recommended intake of protein (with the chocolate flavour scoring the highest, at 53%). The shakes are gluten-free, packed with vitamins, and contain no added sugar or sweeteners. They’re also 100% plant-based, so they’re suitable for vegetarians and vegans. So far, so good!

I decided to have a shake for breakfast each day for three days. The only meal-replacement shakes I’ve had before this were the Fast 800 shakes. I always found that I felt hungry again an hour or so after having a Fast 800 shake, so I was doubtful that the BOL shakes would fill me up for the day. However, I had a BOL shake between 10am and 12pm each day, and I didn’t feel hungry again until it was time for my evening meal. Result!

Like many podders, I’ve become more sensitive to flavourings since starting Slimpod, so I was relieved to see that BOL use all natural flavourings. The shakes certainly taste natural, and they have a lovely creamy texture. My favourite flavour of the three was chocolate, but I see that BOL also make a salted caramel shake which I may have to track down and try, just for research purposes!

Given how filling they are, I would consider buying BOL shakes to have for occasional breakfasts on busy days, and I would definitely grab one if I was out and about and needed something quick, easy and healthy to fill me up. They’d be great to pop in your backpack for a day out, too.

BOL also make soups and one-pot meals, and I’m interested in trying those to see if they’d be a tasty, easy option to save time on days when I’m working. I rarely buy ready-made options these days, but BOL meals look healthy, full of protein and reasonably priced. I’ll be keeping an eye out for them in my local supermarkets.

Thanks, BOL! This was an enjoyable experiment!
