I wanted to highlight a few things Slimpodders are enjoying at the moment!
You’ll find a fantastic podcast, a YouTube series Podders are talking about, and a community challenge that is simple enough to do on your busiest day. I’ve also added a book I’m loving at the moment, especially for anyone who’s ever worried about what happens after weight-loss medication.
Here are the favourites so far this year.
Favourite podcast this month: Hannah’s story (five stone down and finally free)
If you need proof that sustainable change is real, start here.
In this powerful episode, Hannah shares how she lost over five stone and, for the first time, knows it’s staying off. She talks honestly about life before Slimpod: binge eating, constant discomfort, and years of cycling through diets.
There’s a moment in her story that will resonate with so many people. A holiday wobble almost led to food guilt, but she caught it early and refused to let one day become a bad week. This journey is all about consistency over perfection, so picking yourself up and keeping on keeping on is just so powerful and important!
What I love about Hannah’s journey is the confidence in it. She eats with awareness, enjoys treats without bingeing, and moves because she wants to. Food is no longer the thing running her life!
Podcasts are released every Sunday at 12, subscribe where you get your podcasts to never miss an episode!
Favourite YouTube this month: Science of Sustainable Weight Loss (new every Wednesday)
Podders are really enjoying my new YouTube series, Science of Sustainable Weight Loss. New episodes land every Wednesday at 6 pm, and the feedback has been brilliant because these videos give you the “why” behind the behaviours that so often feel confusing.
The episode people have been talking about most is the one on self-sabotage. This is such a common experience: you’re doing well, you feel in control, you can see progress… and then old habits return as if they’ve come from nowhere. In my Diet Dossier research for The Weight’s Over, 85% of people identified self-sabotage as the main reason they couldn’t sustain weight loss. It’s rarely about knowledge. It’s about what your brain has learned to do under pressure.
This episode explains what’s happening and how to stop the pattern repeating.
Community challenge: the High Five Challenge (simple, uplifting, surprisingly effective)
Our community managers ran a fun challenge in the community, which so many podders are loving: a high-five challenge! This one is so fun, and here is how it works.
Every day this week, I want you to look in the mirror, give yourself a high five, and say something positive to yourself. It may feel silly at first, especially if you’re used to criticising yourself, but that’s exactly why it helps. A high five is a gesture we normally give to someone else when they’ve done well. Turning it towards yourself creates a moment of acknowledgement, which builds motivation and strengthens self-compassion.
There’s good psychology behind it too. Small acts of self-encouragement can interrupt the automatic slide into self-judgement, and that matters because harsh self-talk is fuel for emotional eating and giving up.
Podders are thriving in the community (and the Slimpod Lives archive is back)
One of the best parts of this year has been seeing Podders connecting in the new community. When you’re changing your habits, support matters. It keeps you steady on the days you feel wobbly, and it helps you celebrate progress that you might otherwise dismiss.
I’m also so glad we have the Slimpod Lives archive back. It’s full of practical teaching, real conversations, and the kind of reminders you often need more than once. If you haven’t explored it yet, you can find it in the app by going to Menu > Slimpod Community.
Book I’m enjoying: Beyond Weight Loss Jabs (and something special is coming)
My publisher sent me a book called “Beyond Weight Loss Jabs” to have a look at. I love to learn more about the science behind weight loss, and parts of this book really align withth Slimpod. Dr Paul Barrington Chell and Dr Monique Hope-Ross combine clinical experience with science to explore what they call the “big five” root causes of weight gain, including how modern diets high in refined carbs and ultra-processed foods can disrupt the body’s ability to burn fat. It’s practical, it’s clear, and it’s written for real life.
I love finding and sharing tools with Slimpodders, and this book has parts you might find useful. I loved the beliefs chapter so much that I got in touch with the authors, and I have something special coming up for everyone very soon.
Tell me what resources and tools you are enjoying in the comments! I would love to know!
