Tanya’s journey is one that speaks to so many people. For years, she gave everything to everyone else—her children, her family, her students—and in the process, lost connection with herself. She was tired. Overwhelmed. And like many, stuck in a cycle of diets that promised quick fixes but delivered only more self-judgement.
But over time, something shifted. And what’s unfolded since is a beautiful story of self-respect, confidence, and deep emotional change.
Letting Go of the “Mood Step”
For years, Tanya weighed herself every day. She called the scales her “mood step” because the number would decide how she felt about herself and how she treated herself, for the rest of the day.
“If it went up, I’d punish myself. If it stayed the same, I’d breathe a bit easier. But either way, the number was in charge.”
That’s no longer the case. The scales are still in her home, but they’ve lost their power.
“Now, what matters is that I feel good. That I’m doing more. Living more. Smiling more.”
Tanya’s progress isn’t measured in pounds, it’s in the 10-mile walks, the yoga on the beach, and the confidence to go to Centre Parcs for the first time and feel like she belonged there.
The First Step Was the Stairs
When she started, Tanya set a quiet goal: she would take the stairs. Living on the third floor, that wasn’t a small ask. At first, she had to stop on every level but now, she runs up them without thinking.
That tiny shift created momentum. The movement became normal and enjoyable, her asthma improved and her energy returned. Reopening her world.
The Eight Stone That Doesn’t Show Up on a Scale
“I haven’t weighed myself. But the mental weight I’ve lost—that’s worth eight stone to me.”
That’s so powerful. The guilt that used to follow her everywhere, the pressure to be perfect, the feeling of failure that came with every ‘slip-up’. It’s all gone now. Replaced with self-awareness, balance, and peace.
“I Like What I See in the Mirror Now”
Tanya made it her goal to fall back in love with the woman in the mirror. Every morning, she started with simple steps: cleansing her face, putting on earrings, a spritz of perfume. At first, it felt unfamiliar. But slowly, it became part of her routine.
And now? She smiles when she sees her reflection. She wears bright colours, where she once only wore black.
“I used to hide. Now I stand tall. I walk with a bit of a swagger. And if someone doesn’t like it—they can look away. This is me.”
From Shame to Self-Trust
She no longer needs to control food with rules or punish herself with guilt. She eats what she wants—and truly wants what she eats.
“I used to have two biscuits and think, ‘That’s it, I’ve blown it.’ Now? I have them and move on. Or sometimes, I don’t even want them. That’s not who I used to be but it’s who I am now.”
There’s no fear of food anymore. Just trust in herself.
A Life Transformed
Tanya recently got married and her wedding photos radiate joy, the kind that comes from someone who knows she deserves to feel good in her own skin. The confidence, calm and love for life—it’s all there.
And perhaps the most powerful thing she said was this:
“I hold Slimpod responsible for the confidence and wonderful inner peace I now have.”
She’s not trying to be someone else anymore. She’s simply being Tanya and that’s incredible.
